3 Things You Must Include In Your Business' Instagram Profile

Building a following on Instagram gives your business the opportunity to market your brand internationally on a daily basis if done correctly. There are a lot of techniques you can employ when making posts to extend your outreach, but they're all useless if your profile isn't set up correctly. Most people will only visit your profile page once before deciding to follow it or not. Don't lose out on followers because of an inadequately filled out profile.

Here are 3 Things You Must Include in Your Business' Instagram Profile for Success:

1. Your .Logo

The avatar you choose for your Instagram profile is the image that will be most frequently seen by your followers. People will learn to associate this image with your brand as they scroll through their feed. The image you choose should represent your brand identity in the best possible light.

The avatar for your Instagram profile should ideally be the logo of your business. You establish brand recognition with every post you make, and each Instagram post will become its very own mini marketing campaign. A properly designed logo should be eye catching but simple and give a good visual representation of your company's brand.

If you do not have a logo for your business, you should use a recognizable image that you use as your avatar across all of your social media platforms. This is usually the case for performance artists, where the person's public identity is their brand.

2. Company Name and Description

The @username you select for your business' Instagram profile should be the name your business is most recognized as. This is how people are going to search for and recognize you. Don't make it complicated. Separate from your @username you should fill in your full company name on your profile page. This will help people identify your brand over another profile with a similar @username.

Next, fill out the description box with relevant information about your business and what you're doing on Instagram. Who are you? What are you doing here? Don't be tempted to keyword stuff your descriptions; these boxes are not searchable by hashtags or keywords. Save it for your posts.

3. Your Website Address

Include your website address on your profile page. This is the only place where hyperlinks work on Instagram. If you try to include them with individual post descriptions they won't link out. You want to make sure that you keep it professional as well. Take the time to register a proper domain name. It's really inexpensive, and there is no reason not to.

Consider what your main goal is for marketing through Instagram, and select the landing page you send them to appropriately. You don't need to send them to your "about" page. They saw that on your profile and are already interested. Consumers today have a really short attention span. As soon as they click into your website, if they don't see something that grabs their attention they will click back out. Does your company offer services? Great! Send them to your "services" page. Are you trying to sell products? Fantastic! Send them directly to your "shopping" page. Don't miss the opportunity to keep the engagement flowing.
